Greenbrier Global Artists Exhibition & Reception - April 22, Monday
The Fralin Museum of Art.
Partnering with the Greenbrier Elementary School, The Fralin introduced a new program specifically designed for children of refugees, recently relocated to Charlottesville. About 20 students from various countriesincluding Syria, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Nepal and Mexicoare participating in Greenbrier Global Artists. Led by art educators Angela Corpuz, Golara Haghtalab, and Aimee Hunt, the program is held once-a-week after school at Greenbrier Elementary. Sessions are focused on the children and things that are important to them: their families, their homes, their hobbies, the landscape of their home countries, and their favorite animals and foods. UVA students also attend the program to engage with the children and talk with them about their art.
