Janet Fieldhouse: Body Ornaments - January 27-May 21
Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Museum/Australia Council for the Arts.
Indigenous Australian artist Janet Fieldhouse's woven forms are inspired by historical and contemporary customs of Torres Strait women such as the creation of baskets, pendants and armbands. Other works explore the artist's desire to preserve designs from female rituals of scarification, where a woman's skin is cut or burned to produce permanent markings in scar tissue rather than ink.
