Charlottesville Symphony at UVA Presents: Brahms' Second - February 17 & 18, Saturday & Sunday
Charlottesville Symphony.
Notoriously wracked by self-doubt, Brahms took fifteen years to write his first Symphony. After it met with overwhelming success, he composed his second in less than a year. The Second Symphony is the most overtly optimistic of all of his symphonies. Here, it is paired with Haydn's nimble Trumpet Concerto and Ricercar, a work by up-and-coming American composer Nathan Shields. A pre-concert lecture will take place at 7:15pm on Saturday at Minor Hall. Old Cabell Hall & Monticello High School.  8pm Saturday at Old Cabell Hall; 3:30pm Sunday at MHS.  For details, please click this link.  For more info call: 434-924-3139.
