Becoming a Local
Charlottesville is a fabulous place to live with excellent schools, health care and arts. We're in central Virginia, surrounded by gentle rivers, green pastures, mild seasons and an easy drive to Washington, D.C., or the Atlantic coast. Charlottesville is a small city - just over 10.4 square miles, with 45,000 residents - but it has the trappings of a big one. Musical acts and dramatic performances, fine dining, lovely shops - all are available in abundance. Charlottesville is home to diverse job-generating enterprises, from large employers and the government to start-up companies.
Charlottesville City Schools
"Personal and Academic Success for All" guides the curriculum in Charlottesville City Schools with richly staffed classrooms and highly qualified professionals to nurture and challenge each student's talents. Our strong academic programs are enhanced by extracurricular activities for all grade levels, school sports, modern technology and one of the best fine arts programs in the country. The comprehensive preK-12 curriculum is designed to not only meet, but exceed, state standards. CHS students consistently score well above state and national averages on SAT tests and many attend top universities. Please contact any of our nine schools for a personal tour.
The International School of Charlottesville offers the best in preschool education within a foreign language environment. The language center in the brain undergoes the greatest development in the first years of life. Exposing a child to a second language at an early age broadens cognitive ability in later years. Learning and thinking in another language also encourages multicultural awareness. At The ISC, the new language is not introduced as a separate subject but is an intrinsic part of the environment.

We provide a much needed break for dogs that are left home alone for long stretches of time. A member of our team of well trained, compassionate dog walkers will come to your home to walk your dog individually in his or her own neighborhood, providing a potty break and exercise as well as a highlight to his/her long days alone. We are all responsible, dog loving folks who can’t think of a more satisfying way to spend our time. No one loves your dog more than we do, except maybe you.
